What's in a free AI visibility report?

Direct answer

A free AI visibility report shows whether ChatGPT and Gemini name your business when customers ask common questions about your trade and city, which directories and sources those tools cite, where your listings are missing or inconsistent, and a short list of fixes in priority order. We ask each question 3 times in fresh, logged-out chats, because answers change from one run to the next.

What we ask, and how many times

We pick four questions your customers actually ask, for your trade and city. For our Austin, TX tests on Nov 1, 2026, those were: - Roofing: best roofer, emergency roof repair open now, most trusted family-owned roofing company, and who to hire for a roof replacement. - Electrical: best electrician, emergency electrician open now, most trusted family-owned electrician, and who to hire for a panel upgrade.

Each question goes to ChatGPT and to Gemini, 3 times each, in a fresh logged-out chat. That's 24 answers per trade. We report results as "X of 3 answers", never as a single screenshot.

What we record

  1. Who gets named. Which businesses each answer recommends, in order, and whether you're one of them.
  2. Which sources get cited. The directories, lists and websites each tool links to. For example, ChatGPT cited The Roofing Brief's best-roofers list in 3 of 3 "best roofer" answers and 3 of 3 roof-replacement answers, and Gemini cited GAF's contractor directory in 3 of 3 "best roofer" answers. For electricians, ChatGPT cited Expertise, ContractorsRanked and ConsumerAffairs in 3 of 3 "best electrician" answers, and the Texas TDLR license search in 3 of 3 panel-upgrade answers.
  3. Listing and citation gaps. Whether you're listed, and accurate, on the sources that were cited. Other roofing sources included BBB profiles (2 of 3 family-owned answers), and GAF and VettedRoof (2 of 3 roof-replacement answers each), plus SiftPros (1 of 3 confirmed roof-replacement answers; it appeared in a second, but we couldn't confirm the link). For electricians, Gemini cited ServiceAgent's directory and Angi in 2 of 3 "best electrician" answers, and ServiceAgent in 2 of 3 panel-upgrade answers.
  4. Your own pages. Whether the tools quote your website. For emergency roof repair, both tools mostly cited roofers' own emergency or repair pages, not directories, and Gemini cited electricians' own emergency or repair pages in 3 of 3 emergency answers. If you have no such page, there's nothing to quote.
  5. A short fix list. The three or four changes we'd make first, such as correcting a directory listing, matching your license record to your business name, publishing a service page, or adding business markup.

What the report can't tell you

  • It's a snapshot. 3 runs per question on one day. Answers can change the next day.
  • Gemini ran on its Flash-Lite model when logged out. Some Gemini answers were cut off before they finished (one roofing family-owned answer and one electrician panel-upgrade answer), and some Gemini source chips showed no web address. We count a source only when we could confirm it.
  • Sometimes no sources are shown. Two of ChatGPT's 3 emergency electrician answers showed no sources at all, so we didn't count them toward any source.
  • No guarantees. Nobody can promise what an AI tool will say. The report shows where you stand today and what we'd fix first.

FAQ

How much does the free report cost?

Nothing, and there's no obligation. If you want us to do the fixes, our plan is $500 a month, month to month.

Which AI tools do you check?

ChatGPT and Gemini, each asked every question 3 times in fresh, logged-out chats.

Why ask each question 3 times?

Answers change from run to run. In our Nov 1, 2026 Austin tests, the businesses named for the same question varied between runs, so one search can't tell you where you stand.

Will the report name my competitors?

Yes, the report shows you which businesses were named instead of you for each question. Our public pages name only the sources cited.

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend me after the fixes?

No. We guarantee the work gets done and we retest the same questions so you can see what changed.

How do I get one?

Tell us your business, trade and city on our contact page. We reply by email within 2 business days.
